I always feel like a
Good Mom when I take my kids to the zoo. This time I kept Kat home from preschool and we took our own field trip. I think that gives me extra points. I brought a lunch too (more points cuz she's #3 and I don't have a brain anymore). However, it wasn't the healthiest lunch (Lunchable), so minus points. I did buy her the Popsicle of her choice even though it would be messy - and this mommy gets extra points for that cuz I have "Messy OCD." No sunhat, minus. No sunscreen, double minus.
If I go on, I'm not sure I will come out ahead.
I'll just remember the wonderful day we had with nice friends. And the beautiful feeling I get when I spend time with the precious little girl the Lord has blessed me with.
*If you would like to earn points of your own (bragging rights, really) you can answer this animal question: Why are flamingos pink?? In a couple days, check back in "comments" to see if you can brag or not.

I remember those popsicles! You are brave!! It was great meeting you the other night. I hope to talk to you more.
you get a million points for your field trip being the zoo! the zoo stresses me out, not sure why, but i give you total props. and flamingos are pink cuz they are fair skinned and burn easily...
Oh Melanie, you sound so confident. I love it!
Hey May! Miss you too, hows school? Love Jen
Hi,
Flamingos get their color from their diet intake, like when we eat too many carrots our sking starts turning orange... or like when leaves turn red and orange in the fall, it's the lack of sun in their diet (for lack of the scientic name!)
I am probably completely and totally wrong, but I thought flamingos were pink because of the shrimp they eat?!
How was the Gladney dinner on Tuesday? We were so sad that we were unable to attend. Our daughter's last cross country meet for the season was that afternoon and we couldn't make the drive in time. Did you love meeting the visitors from Ethiopia?
Tons of points for a zoo trip.... it is always blazing hot when we decide to go! Wouldn't it be wonderful to go this time of year!
Take Care!

Deanna and Nikki, you are SO right! It's the shrimp in their diet. How crazy is that??! My friend Joanna read the flamingo sign next to their lovely habitat and sounded super smart when she told us about the shrimp thing. You two are naturally super smart, impressive! I don't think this eating thing works on me though, cuz I've eaten pounds and pounds of brownies and don't look any more tan. Yet I persist...
All the best Moms let their kids play hookie once in a while...how else do we get time with them during the school year? Esp. good one on one time.
